History
Wesmar AB was founded in January 1977, after previously having been part of a larger company’s instrument department. To begin with, the focus was level measurements within the process industry and the product portfolio mainly consisted of ultrasonic level transmitters from American Wesmar Inc. The level program was gradually extended and in 1981 position sensing with linear displacement transducers from MTS was added as a start of a second business area. By and by Wesmar grew, both in employees and turnover, and in 1983 weighing was introduced as a third column.
Australian Hawk was tied to Wesmar in 1990 as supplier of ultrasonic level transmitters as well as microwave switches. This strengthened Wesmar´s position as one of the leading Swedish companies within non contact process measurement technique. It was accentuated even more in 1993 , when Saab Marine Electronics in Gothenburg contracted Wesmar as their distributor for the Swedish market. With Saab´s world leading tankradar gauges business heavily increased in the chemical and petrochemical markets. The following year, 1994, Magnetrol was added with a product supply well adapted to above mentioned lines of business.
In 1995-1996 Wesmar carried out an extensive internal quality control, ISO 9000, followed by investments in employee development. The business area of weighing was strengthened in 1996, when load cell supplier Revere Transducers was added as a supplier.
In the early nineties the strategic board work became more intense. External board members were recruited and the management of the company was developed as support for the operative work.
2007 Wesmar AB is acquired by Tillquist Elteknik AB and becomes a business area of Hugo Tillquist AB from 2009.
